UNITY THROUGH DIVERSITY
We developed a concept that highlights diversity by creating a portrait composed of different facial features, hair types, skin tones, and cultural elements. Our artwork integrates symbols of various cultural traditions, including Barongsai, Diwali, Teh Tarik, Nasi Lemak, Indonesian Batik, and Bunga Raya, among others, as part of the background. This design illustrates unity among different races and cultures, highlighting the beauty of our differences.
The competition's theme, "Unity Through Diversity," speaks to the strength found in embracing cultural, ethnic, and religious differences. Each part of our mural was crafted by a different team member in their unique style, representing not only diversity but also the strength of collaboration.
Our concept emerged from a simple idea: illustrating unity through diversity by depicting people from different backgrounds. Through this theme, we aim to foster understanding and inclusivity. We combined different facial elements—skin tones, eyes, and hairstyles—to represent various races. To emphasize the richness of diverse cultures, we included symbols of cultural events like Diwali and Chinese New Year in the background.
