PART 1: IDEA DEVELOPMENT
1. Write a biography about yourself
INTRO | My name is Gabriella Grace Christyanti, but everyone calls me Gaby. I was born in Indonesia, and I’m the oldest child in my family. I would describe myself as an ambivert; while most of my friends see me as an extrovert, my social battery tends to run out quickly. I’m the type of person who prioritizes my own responsibilities before focusing on others’ needs. I have a chill personality, but I do love to chat a lot. |
PARAGRAPH 1 | I love immersing myself in my imagination. Watching fantasy movies, playing games, and listening to music lets my mind wander, allowing me to escape the real world and step into a realm where dreams become reality. I enjoy writing stories and drawing, as it feels like an invitation for others to explore the unique and unusual world that exists only inside my head. |
PARAGRAPH 2 | My dream is to become a designer in the game industry. I want to share stories with others through games, as playing games helped me get through some tough times. My parents support my aspirations and also encourage my backup plan of pursuing a career in the film industry. |
SUMMARY | In conclusion, for this project, I aim to create a surreal theme that brings my imagination to life, allowing others to see the world through my lens of imagination |
2. Write a statement about your work
INTRO | In this project, I aim to create a surreal, dreamlike theme by applying the skills I have developed through my previous projects. |
PARAGRAPH 1 | The concept I envision revolves around an underwater theme, symbolizing how I often immerse myself in my imagination. By surrounding myself with objects that don't typically belong in this setting, I aim to highlight the absurdity of reality as seen through the lens of my imagination. |
PARAGRAPH 2 | The message of my project is to encourage others to let go of reality occasionally and allow their minds to drift into a more playful and imaginative world—one where they can escape the weight of the world’s troubles and find a sense of lightness and joy. |
SUMMARY | In conclusion, this project will focus more in giving the surrealism affect |
3. Study and gather all related information about your topic

PART 2: DESIGN DIRECTION

I chose to add floating fish to my picture because visualizing the idea of drowning in imagination can be challenging. The fish help create an underwater feel that represents being immersed in thought. Initially, I included a shining golden flow to symbolize how imagination flows freely and is often hard to grasp as something concrete. However, Mr. Fauzi suggested removing the golden flow.
2. Create a digital poster based on your sketch

After recreating the sketch in photoshop, I added two butterflies to represent transformation and the lightness of imagination as it takes flight. The earth covered in flowers is meant to show growth and beauty within the creative process, while the falling flowers add a sense of movement and fleeting moments, reflecting how ideas can bloom and fade.
To enhance the overall atmosphere, I applied a more blueish tone to everything, creating a underwater, dreamlike quality. The orange elements were amplified to stand out against the blue hues, making them pop and drawing attention to key areas of the composition.
PART 3: FINAL POSTER
FINAL POSTER | TITLE: Submerged in Imagination |
ARTIST STATEMENT: In this project, I explore a surreal and dreamlike theme. The idea is based on an underwater world, which represents how I often dive deep into my imagination. By filling this world with objects that don’t normally belong there, I want to show how strange and playful reality can feel when seen through a creative lens. What I want to show from this poster is to encourage people to let go of reality for a moment and step into a more imaginative world. It’s a space where they can escape their worries and feel a sense of joy and lightness. |

LECTURER FEEDBACK
Mr. Fauzi appreciated the overall concept and composition. However, he suggested removing the golden flow as it felt unnecessary. Mr. Fauzi also helped assess my work to determine if I could proceed. He approved my progress and encouraged me to move on to the next steps and complete the project.
During the animation phase, he suggested using green screen butterfly loops and animating the fish with the puppet tool to add motion and ensure the scene didn’t appear stiff. For the background music, he guided us in finding a suitable 15-second clip on YouTube to enhance the overall presentation.
